Efficacy of entomopathogenic nematodes against Tuta absoluta

چکیده

The South American tomato pinworm, Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) is one of the most serious insect pests plants. Current control strategies for T. primarily involve use insecticides, but increasing resistance in field populations has prompted research on alternative measures. Biological with entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) can be an or component Integrated Pest Management programme. In foliar application, EPNs encounter many factors that affect their survival and efficacy. This paper reports investigations into some these several EPN species; relative humidity (RH), temperature, time required by to enter a leaf number applications whole bioassays leaves. RH was important factor; efficacy decreased as declined. Steinernema feltiae effective species followed carpocapsae then Heterorhabditis bacteriophora. survived better at low than S. feltiae. two induced similar mortality 25 °C, more virulent lower temperatures (15 20 °C) while higher (30 35 °C). First second instar larvae compared third fourth larvae. used requires careful selection relation temperature environment crop maximise

What are you focusing on at the moment? I am still carrying on with my research into the molecular mechanisms of memory, currently focusing on the link between CaMKII and AMPA receptors during memory consolidation. New Pyrethroids for Use Against Tuta Absoluta (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae): Their Toxicity and Control Speed

Insect pests are responsible for major losses in crop productivity, and insecticides are the main tools used to control these organisms. There is increasing demand for new products for pest management. Therefore, the aim of this study was to assess the toxicity of pyrethroids with acid moiety modifications to measure the insecticidal activity of these compounds on Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) (Lepid...

Entomopathogenic nematodes against foliage feeding crucifer pests in the tropics

Use of entomopathogenic nematodes against foliage pests is commonly perceived to be limited by their tolerance to temperature, desiccation and UV radiation. The effect of these abiotic factors on the infective juveniles (ijs) of two isolates of Steinernema spp. (SSL85), two isolates of Steinernema spp. (M87), Heterorhabditis n.sp. and H. indicus recovered from selected sites within Peninsular M...

Effects of emamectin benzoate combined with acetamiprid, eforia and hexaflumuron against Tuta absoluta (Lep.: Gelechiidae)

Tomato leafminer, Tuta absoluta Meyrick (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) is one of the most destructive pests of tomato in many parts of the world including Iran. The toxicity of emamectin benzoate alone and combined with acetamiprid, eforia (thiamethoxam + lambda-cyhalotrin) and hexaflumuron was evaluated against 2nd instar larvae of Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) under 25 ± 1 °C, the relative humidity of ...
